Ambient Arts is a social enterprise which develops therapeutic audio products for general sale and donation to medical institutions. The aim is to produce a series of tools to help reduce suffering, specifically in the forms of stress, anxiety, addiction, insomnia and depression. It aims to produce the most relaxing and beautiful recordings, and to constantly strive to improve their quality and effectiveness. It also aims to promote and spread positive mental states, and produces meditation and hypnotherapy recordings to help people find and maintain these. Many decades of research into music and psychoacoustics has come to fruit in a series of CDs which are currently being given away to patients in rehabs and other addiction treatment facilities as part of a research project. Thus far this has been with the help of funding bodies and charities such as Drugscope and The Scarman Trust, but the business aims to fund these charitable activities itself, and expand on these types of activities. Nicolas Croll is the founder, researcher, composer and producer behind initial offerings, and is also very much influenced among other tings by Buddhism and meditation, and is the meditation teacher recorded in the guided meditation cd’s. He is trained in composition and classical music, having attended the Guildhall School of Music for ten years, and gone on to study electronic music, music technology, and the area of psychoacoustics. After fighting battles with addiction himself, finding a path between creativity and healing seemed a natural progression and hence he started to become interested in music therapy and the possibilities offered by this and sound therapy to people in detox and rehabilitation facilities. He was awarded money from Drugscope (a Millennium Lottery arm) to build a studio and start research, and went on to discover ways in which the brain’s electromagnetic waves could be manipulated by sound, and thus induce states of states of calm and well-being through this technology. He then added beautiful music and sounds widely considered relaxing, and came up with the range of products available on this site. As part of his spiritual growth he is trying to spread the wellness and spiritual teachings he has received on this hard road to recovery, and hopes that his work will touch people, and help them to find inner peace. |
